I have over 25 years experience in studying violin and have been teaching for 10 years. I love music and helping people learn. I studied violin through the undergraduate collegiate level with the violin professors at both the University of Florida and Florida State University and have experience in solo, chamber music, and orchestral performance.
I began teaching about 10 years ago and primarily work with adult students, from beginner to advanced levels. For beginners, I combine Suzuki literature with traditional methods, emphasizing both musicality and technique.

I have taken lessons with Evan for over a year now. He is a great teacher with very sharp ears. Likes to use to metaphor to explain otherwise abstract concept. Very nice in person and flexible in scheduling lessons.
Evan has transformed my life. As a concert pianist and a former student trainee of Opera Memphis, I have had innumerable music teachers throughout my life. However, I have never had a teacher like Evan. He took me from absolute beginner - starting with learning how to even hold a violin - to decently proficient in a relatively short amount of time. He tailors his instruction in such a way that each student can understand. He has enormously high standards but he inspires students to achieve them. Evan's lessons are incredibly convenient, located close to a metro and with flexible hours to accomodate a hectic work schedule.
I cannot overstate what a transformative impact meeting Evan has had on my life. It's made me a better musician in all of my instruments, because he instills a deeper understanding of theory and musicianship. Violin is a challenging instrument, if not the most challenging, but Evan skillfully guides students to mastery. Randomly deciding to buy a violin and doing a quick search for local teachers one day was the best decision I've ever made, and it's all because of Evan. I can't imagine life without my violin teacher!
