Learn the flute! Caring teacher with 2 masters degrees and 10+ years teaching experience
Hello! I am so glad you are here! Congratulations on taking the first steps to learning the flute or improving the skills you already have--whether you study with me or with anyone else, learning an instrument takes discipline, open-mindedness, and courage (and so does teaching it for that matter!). I work with my students in the traditional mentor-pupil model, so you and I would work as a team to develop your playing. Because of this, all my lessons are one-on-one, ensuring each student gets the individualized attention they deserve and require for learning the flute and to accomplish their specific goals. Some students have dreams of going to conservatory, others just want to play beautiful melodies for family and friends. Your goal is my goal, and we will make it happen together. I am proud to offer these benefits to my students: Scholarship flutes-There are two scholarship flutes that are available for use at no charge to NYC students dependent upon availability. These flutes are intended to provide a loaner instrument while your flute is being serviced or to relieve the financial burden of renting an instrument during the course of study for those in need. Rate lock-You are guaranteed the rate you entered the studio until the end of your studies. Studio library-All students receive a link to my digitized music library. The library features staples from the repertoire, a vast pool of baroque, classical, romantic, new music, rudiments, and more.
About Eva S.

Eva Skanse is the former principal flute of the Queen City Chamber Orchestra of Cincinnati, principal of Seven Hills Baroque Orchestra, founding member of both the Cincinnati Camerata Baroque and the Aurora Ensemble, and a leader in the New Hampshire music non-profit Silentwoods Collective. With two masters of music degrees (one in flute and one in historical performance) she is equally at home teaching modern flute/piccolo and historical flutes. A former student of the acclaimed composer Brian Nabors, Eva also loves teaching composition students. With a teaching style that focuses on individualism, Eva's goal with each student is to develop their strengths and support their weaknesses with the traditional mentor-apprentice relationship that celebrates the personal needs of the pupil.
