I started my musical journey in 2010, when I was in sixth grade, with my community theater's production of the Wizard of Oz. I fell in love with musical theatre for the emotional drive of storytelling music, and I later brought this to every kind of music I studied: classical, opera, jazz, folk, and even instrumental music. Through my many years of teaching and learning, I have found that it is actually remarkably easy to become an excellent musician when you acknowledge your position as a storyteller. If you put the emotion first, technique and consistency come much more naturally, and as a teacher it is my goal and responsibility to spread this word.
