Hi there! I'm Esther, a professional pianist and violinist. I graduated from Wheaton College with a Bachelor's of Music, specializing in Piano Performance. Piano and violin students can expect to improve week by week in their technique and musical ability as they attend lessons and practice regularly. Each student is unique in musical background and goals. I get to know each student personally and create a personalized lesson plan for each student, so that they can achieve their musical goals and have FUN while doing it! I teach a well-rounded music curriculum, focusing on basic skills such as note-reading, instrument technique, sight-reading, ear training, and learning a variety of repertoire. My students can expect to grow in foundational music technique and performance, so that they can play in a variety of settings with freedom, confidence, and expression. I teach piano students of all ages and experience levels. I studied piano for 16 years and have been teaching piano professionally for 10 years. I can teach students to read music and play styles from classical to pop, as well as to play contemporary music using chord charts. I always take the goals and preferences of the student into consideration when choosing repertoire and making lesson plans. I also teach violin students of all ages and experience levels. I studied violin for 10 years and have been teaching violin professionally for 5+ years. I also have many years of orchestral performance experience, ensemble performance experience (playing piano and violin), and have been a part of a church worship band for over 10 years. I love helping students learn not only how to be a great musician personally, but also to develop the skills to partner with other musicians to make meaningful music!
