About Erin: After completing my Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at North Park University in Chicago, I moved to NYC in 2010 to pursue my loves of music, acting, and education. During my time in NYC, I worked as a Teaching Artist through Wingspan Arts, acted in short films, and sang in concerts, operas, and musical theater productions around the city. I even spent my final few months there working in a Manhattan Talent Agency. Now, I am back in my hometown of Chicago continuing my work near friends and family! I have been teaching acting, modeling, music, voice, and piano to children and adults of all ages for the last seven years. My goal is to professionally fuse my passion for music, theater, and education while continuing to learn, grow, and share the beauty and magic of the arts with others. In my free time I enjoy movies, board games, geeky TV shows, rock climbing, and swimming with sharks! Fun Fact: I know every word to every Disney Princess song, forwards and backwards. Can you guess my favorite? Professional Performance Credits include: *Christine "Phantom of the Opera in Concert" NYC *Gretel "Hansel and Gretel" NYC *Barbarina "Marriage of Figaro" NYC *Lucy "Beggar's Opera" Chicago *Bebe "A Chorus Line" Chicago *Little Red "Into the Woods" Chicago *** Lesson Details *** For kids and adults alike, learning either voice or piano, I believe that you learn a lot more, and a lot faster when you feel comfortable and are having fun. With me, you will find an instructor who is patient, professional, motivating, challenging, and above all, encouraging. And fun. Did I mention fun?! For voice students I like to use a mix of Broadway, Classical, and Popular music, depending on your needs and desires as a singer. I always assign a "teaching song" (a song that is good for training your voice) and a "fun song" (a song of your choice that you would like to sing just for fun!). For piano students I like to use the Piano Adventures series by Faber & Faber. These are fun musical pieces, most of which are adapted from familiar classical works that have been arranged to teach you a certain technique. If you prefer your own materials that you've been working with, you may certainly bring them in! For both, I always incorporate a balance of technique, music theory, and creative interpretation. And for the brave: PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES!! Each lesson will likely involve warm-ups, games, reviews, new concepts, rehearsal, coaching, assignments, and rewards. During our lessons, we will set short-term and long-term goals based on what you want to accomplish as an artist, what you expect from me, and what I feel you should be working on. Each one of the you has your own unique voice, hands, and ideas of what music means to you. My job is to get to know you and your musical self, and then design exercises and songs that will specifically fulfill your needs as a musician. Skill and technique are extremely important when learning to sing or play a musical instrument, but we must never forget what drew us to music in the first place! While we work on technique, we will also be discussing creativity, and the art of self expression, and have tons of fun in the process! Did I mention I'm a bit of a music geek? I highly recommend Erin. She is very passionate about music and sharing her talent with her students. I am thrilled to say that in five lessons I have learned the notes of the piano. I am planning on continuing my lessons with Erin:) She also provides a very friendly, comfortable and professional setting for her students. I am so looking forward to my continued lessons. Please let me know how I can make arrangements to continue my lessons. Thank you. Sincerely, Deborah

Erin is a great, young, but experienced piano teacher! She provides a very positive and encouraging environment for learning and gives a really great structure for the piano lessons. She is also great with the small things: always on-time, gives plenty of homework and remembers to check each one at the beginning of the next class.
