My name is Dr. Erik G. and I am a conductor, pianist, percussionist, and music educator residing in San Diego, CA. My music studies began at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU) where I received a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education in 2010. In 2013, I completed a Master of Music in Orchestral Conducting at California State University Northridge (CSUN). Finally, I received a Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting from the University of South Carolina (UofSC) in 2017. I completed my dissertation in April, 2017.
I have conducted many music ensembles in the United States including: the PLNU concert band (2007-2010), the PLNU chamber orchestra (2008-2010), San Diego Honor Band (2008), Point Loma Opera Theatre (2009), CSUN Symphony Orchestra (2011-2013), CSUN Opera (2011-2013), CSUN Youth Philharmonic and Youth Symphony (2011-2013), UofSC Symphony Orchestra (2014-2017), UofSC Campus Orchestra (2014-2017), and the Columbia Community Orchestra (2016-2017).
I am a doctor of music, but I am also a lover of music. I have performed and studied piano for over 20 years. My goal with students is to educate them in theory and technique while also finding the piano music that most interests them. I am highly experienced teaching piano to children and adults.
In this position I taught group and private lessons in the Yamaha style and worked with students of all ages!
Taught both group and private piano lessons in the traditional/classical style, congregational hymn piano playing, and in pop piano playing. I was fortunate to work with students from a variety of backgrounds and age groups.
