Hi, I'm Erica!
Spanish is my second language, and I began my studies more than twenty years in middle school. I continued my studies of the Spanish language in high school in AP classes, and then as an undergraduate where I minored in Spanish. I took the CLEP test for Spanish a few weeks into my first semester of undergrad at seventeen years old, nearly earning all of the required coursework for the minor.
I have taught grades 6-12 for about six years, specifically American and world histories, ESL and Spanish. Prior to teaching in the public schools, I taught Spanish and political science at a junior college for two years after graduate school.
I have also tutored more than thirty students over the course of about three years from ages 5- early-20's. I'm fluent in Spanish and I lived in Chile for a consecutive year and a half, and in Costa Rica. One of the many things I did while in Chile was to teach English nearly every Saturday morning to children and adults.
I absolutely love teaching not only the Spanish language, but also about the many countries whose cultures and histories have been influenced by the Spanish language. And I'm passionate in passing on an appreciation for the rich histories and cultures of the Spanish-world on to my students so that they can better appreciate many of their world neighbors.
I hope to see you in class!
