After more than a decade of performing and teaching in Los Angeles, Eric now calls Seattle home. Since graduating from the University of Southern California with a degree in Music, Eric has pursued professional jazz and music education with equal passion. In addition to a robust private studio, in Los Angeles Eric was a jazz coach for the Downbeat Magazine award-winning band at Downey High School. Eric also taught for nine years with the elementary school band program, Children's Music Workshop.

During my tenure the Jazz Ensemble has won numerous Southern California jazz festivals and qualified for the prestigious Monterey Jazz Festival three times. In 2018 Downey High was selected by Downbeat Magazine as the most outstanding high school jazz ensemble in the USA!

JEN was formed in 2008 to help bring together the jazz arts community. It hosts an annual conference with concerts presented by students and professionals, a student jazz festival, workshops, research presentations and an exhibition area with manufacturers, retailers, schools and other jazz related organizations. JEN also offers many educational programs, from an outreach program, to mentoring and scholarships.
