I enjoy sharing my love of music by helping others embark on their musical journeys. I am a strong supporter of using a combination of aural training and sightreading to boost musicality and finesse.
In the past 6 years, I have taught students of all ages, ranging from children to seniors. You are never ever too old to learn the piano or the violin. You may not be the next Chopin, but with practice and dedication, you will eventually be able to play the mass majority of piano/violin repertoire.
Strong fundamentals (scales/chords/arpeggios) are important, but I also remember to make music fun and not boring by providing diverse selections of supplemental (pop/ragtime/blues) pieces.
Teach (mostly) piano, violin, and cello students ranging from children, teenagers, young adults, to seniors and help them get started on their musical journey.
Use the perfect balance of technical exercises, etudes, and fun pieces to keep students engaged while developing their technical abilities and musicality.
I am classically trained, but I can also some experience with pop, ragtime, and a little jazz/blues.

Eric helped improved the technical aspects of my playing and taught me how to practice efficiently. Instead of focusing on memorizing pieces one after another, he made sure I can find and learn new pieces on my own.
Classes with Eric is very fun. Every lesson we focus on something new , sometimes it's sightreading, sometimes it's musical expression, sometimes it's improving technique. My repertoire has grown a lot since taking lessons!
Extremely patient & encouraging with beginning students.
very helpful, encouraging, reassuring,
Eric knows a wide range of repertoire and we listened to various pieces by different composers and genres to see what music I like. As someone who is very new to classical music, he prevented piano learning from being too overwhelming. He challenges you so you can reach higher and help you do your best.+ Read More
Very knowledgeable about cello playing. His instructions and demonstrations are clear and refined my bowing techniques and posture. Really looking forward to upcoming lessons.
Before learning violin I already had a little experience with playing ukulele. However, the transition wasn't as smooth as I had hoped. Eric helped in getting my intonation better so it doesn't so horrible. He has high standards, but they are all achievable.+ Read More
Eric has a good attention for detail. He quickly assessed my abilities and gave me pieces to work on. He takes the time to listen and give sincere feedback and insights on your playing.
very good with kids. we are glad to have Eric teach our daughter such a beautiful instrument
For the past few months learning with Eric, I believe I am progressing well. I find his teaching style interesting and he weaves together practical playing techniques with music theory solidly.
Extremely encouraging and supportive teacher. Eric is thorough in what he teaches and paced our progress well. Despite playing badly, I don't ever feel discouraged or pressured.
I am glad I found Eric, it is so difficult to find a teacher that teaches pop piano. It's delightful to learn to play a song that everyone hears on the radio.
My 10 year old daughter found him easy to work with. She is not very musically inclined, but she seems to enjoying her time with the piano.
Great first lesson, Eric noticed a few issues that could eventually lead to bad habits.
As someone who has been selftaught for the last 2 years, Eric really improved my poor techniques to the point where old pieces that I learned sound so different!
If you can afford it, consider getting a teacher.
His lessons are engaging. I have not played piano for almost a decade, but I am learning fast, and he reignited my love of music again.
Teacher was very patient with my daughter. She has been taking lessons for half a year now, and looks forward to the weekly lessons. Eric chooses from a great selection of songs that my daughter actually wants to practice and improve.
