I'm a math and science instructional coach for an elementary school in Dallas ISD. I have taught 5th Grade math and science with great success. I am not one to teach procedures and rules. This is not math. Math is about exploring and finding patterns all around you. For instance: did you know, no matter what a person's height divided by the distance from the belly button to the floor is going to be around 1.618 (depending on accuracy of measurements)? Do you want to know why the "Butterfly Method" works when comparing fractions? Do you want to know what you are doing with simplifying polynomial expressions?
