Singing · In studio

I am an adult voice student who took voice lessons with Emily to improve my singing in a church choir. She succeeded, and in the process changed the way I view my voice and myself.

Emily is a very knowledgable, patient, and supportive teacher. She is also one of the most charismatic and funny people I have ever met. A joy to work with.

Highly recommended.

Emily is a great teacher, who really is invested in her students progress. She makes the lessons a great blend of technique work and repitore. When she picks music she gives options to the student and makes sure to pick something that helps you grow as a musician but isn’t too difficult or challenging. Over all I have had only good experiences while taking lessons with her.

Emily is an amazing voice teacher! I have taken lessons with her for about 9 months, and with her guidance I have grown both as a singer and as a person. She knows how to motivate students to work hard, build confidence, and be excited about music. I am grateful to have her as my teacher and look forward to every lesson with her. If you want to learn from the best, I would recommend her!

Although I came into the process somewhat skeptical but open-minded, Emily has made me a believer. She has performed reiki on me many times and I always feel a palpable difference in how I feel both physically and mentally afterwards. If you’ve never tried reiki before and are curious about the process, I’d highly recommend giving Emily a try.

I've been studying by Skype with Emily for months and am amazed with the improvements already!

She has a very clear way of explaining things I've had trouble with, especially my breathing.

Thanks to her I now feel confident enough to sing in my local church choir which I never thought I could before.

Emily was my voice student from her high school years through college (Plymouth State University). I am able to attest to her undergraduate training in classical voice and to her dedication to the art of singing. Her undergraduate course work included Voice Pedagogy (the art & science of teaching singing), Lyric Diction (Italian, French, German, English), and Voice Repertory. She performed in musicals and operetta at the undergraduate level, and then went on to graduate voice work at Florida State University, from which she earned a Master of Music degree in Voice Performance. Her experiences there included main-stage operas and opera outreach. Emily began teaching, because she loved to help other singers, when she was still in high school. She continued teaching while an undergraduate and also while at Florida State. She is highly qualified and has much to share with her students that will help them to grow as singers and also keep their voices healthy..

I am so glad to have taken lessons with Emily. I was really nervous to start singing lessons since I've never been proud of my voice. It was like singing in front of a good friend with her, although she still knew when to push me forward. After a few months with her my breathing greatly improved and I can hit notes I couldn't before! I'm no longer so scared to sing in front of people and I never thought I would say that. She also showed me how even little adjustments can make a big change, such as fixing my posture. In addition, I always felt comfortable going to her for all singing advice in between lessons.

Emily is a very knowledgeable and intelligent voice teacher. She was good at diagnosing problems with my vocal technique and appropriately flexible in seeking out methods for improving those problems. Singers of all voice types would definitely benefit from her instruction.
