I am a professional violinist based in Boston and teach using both Suzuki and traditional methods. When I'm not teaching, you may hear me performing with a variety of period ensembles in Boston and beyond, including The Sebastians, Grand Harmonie, the American Baroque Orchestra and Les Enfants d'Orfee.
I love the creativity and playfulness involved in teaching younger students, helping middle and high school students take ownership of their playing, and coaching adults as they discover or hone their musical skills.
Here is what parents of my students are saying...
"Emily was engaging, creative, warm and patient. My daughter absolutely loved her and couldn't wait until her next class." - Chirag, parent
"[Emily] was a delight - very patient and appropriately firm. She adapted well to each girl's personality and needs." - Jennifer, parent of three students
"Emily was wonderful with my daughter who was five when she took over her lessons. She kept lessons fun and interesting... Whenever we hit a wall with practice or a difficult new skill, Emily had a trick to help her learn or get over the hurdle." - Brooke, parent
I completed a Masters in Historical Performance, specializing in baroque violin, at the Royal College of Music in London, an MMus in Violin Performance at Penn State University and a BMus in Violin Performance at Houghton College. I am a registered Suzuki Violin/Viola instructor for Books1-4, and teach in Roslindale, MA, and at the All Newton School of Music and South Shore Conservatory.
