My drawing specialties are people, animals, and nature landscape scenery, so if any of these things interest you, let's get drawing!
About Emily C.
Greetings! Do you love to draw or paint either digitally or with traditional mediums? Do you or your kids love cartoons, anime/manga, or comics? How about figure drawing, or lovely nature landscapes? Drawing animals perhaps? How about portraits? Well, if you answered 'yes!' to any of these, then I'm the art teacher for you.
My name is Emily Cammisa, and I follow Bob Ross's philosophy that art is a pursued interest, and anyone who has that invested interest and willingness to practice the craft can get good at it. I've helped people of all ages go from saying "I can't even draw a stick figure!" to "I can't believe I did that!" as they proudly show me their work. I have a bachelor's degree in fine art from Skidmore College and 10 years experience with freelance illustration work and teaching. My goal is to share my love of art with you and build your artistic skill level to wherever you want it to be. Whether it's just a hobby, or a potential career for you, I'm here to help.
What age groups do I teach, you ask? Well, I love teaching kids 5+ and adults alike how to draw and color like a professional artist. I also specialize in teaching people with autism. There's no better therapy than art; it truly is food for the soul. I also make my lessons very affordable and convenient by traveling to my student's homes with all the art supplies every week; rain, snow, or shine. I also teach at the College of Saint Rose every July, so I'm great with large groups in addition to doing private lessons.
Sound good? Great! Let's get drawing and painting. I look forward to bringing out the creativity in you (or your kids!)

Write a ReviewEmily works with my son developing his drawing skills before he leaves for college to study digital animation. He really needed to work on illustration skills and Emily has been amazing! I can’t believe how quickly his skills are improving!! But more importantly to me is that my son enjoys the lessons. He is very comfortable working with Emily and his confidence has grown in the process! I can not speak highly enough about Emily as a teacher!! She has a very calm and supportive approach which is perfect for my son. My son does not drive so it is really convenient that she is willing to travel to my house for lessons!

I found the class very helpful and enjoyable. I've made a lot of progress and it really helps that it's one on one.

My daughter first met Emily through a summer camp that she participated in. She came home excited and told me that we HAD TO take lessons from her! She has been taking drawing lessons from Emily for the past year and has grown so much in skill! Emily is a patient, kind and caring teacher. She really has a wonderful way of connecting with her students and is supportive of their art style. I would highly recommend Emily!

I've known Emily for years and while I'm not an artist, I have observed her teaching children how to draw, particularly during summer classes at the College of Saint Rose in Albany. She always tries to make each activity fun and engaging and does her best to help everyone understand how to draw, paint, sketch, and even how to design good characters. She genuinely does care about art, and that passion shines into her lessons for sure.
I don't draw, but if I chose to, I'd definitely pick Emily as my teacher over anyone else.

I have known Emily for while and I have always enjoyed her art! When she decided to teach art, I immeadiately told her to teac me! I haven’t drawn anything for over twenty years when I was in college. I totally enjoy her art classes with me d she explains everything and is very patient with me. We have a lot of fun along with doing my art pieces. I have always was afraid of failure but. Emily shows there is no such thing as failure. She gives me confidence in what I do. She has opened a whole new world of art for me. Thank you Emily!

My 12 year old daughter has had a love for illustration her whole life and It was hard to find an art teacher that focused on her type of drawing. We finally found Ms. Emily!! She and I love her!! She has not only helped my daughter become a better illustrator, she has helped her overcome some of her anxieties. She is kind and helpful without judging but will push you to create a piece that you will feel proud of. We just think she’s wonderful!!

Ms. Emily is open, approachable and focuses on the students interests. Ms. Emily has embraced my son's differing abilities and empowered him to believe in his artistict abilities, hopes, dreams and for making him feel he can achieve his dreams. I would recommend Ms. Emily to anyone interested in expanding their artistic talents. Thank you Ms. Emily for your acceptance, kindness and for sharing your artistic knowledge and talents with my son!
