About Emiliano T.
Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Emi began his formal training in jazz guitar with Berklee College of Music mentor and professor Bruce Saunders while attending college preparatory school at St. Stephen’s Episcopal. After graduating high school cum laude, at 18, Emi relocated to New York City where he attended The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music on scholarship.
Since arriving to New York, Emi has studied with instrumentalists and composers Dave Douglas, Marcus Strickland, Matt Wilson and Kirk Nurock; guitarists Adam Rogers, Mike Moreno, Peter Bernstein, Nir Felder, Steve Cardenas, Vic Juris, Jack Wilkins, Richard Boukas, and Rory Stuart; and pianists Joanne Brackeen, George Cables, Garry Dial, and Rachel Z. While attending The New School, Emi was a member of the audition based Herbie Hancock Ensemble directed by George Cables and Rory Stuart’s Advanced Rhythm Ensemble where he first met
and collaborated with young rising jazz stars pianist James Francies, vibraphonist Joel Ross, and drummer Jeremy Dutton.
Now an honors graduate, Emi continues gaining recognition in the modern jazz scene as a rising contemporary improviser, composer, and arranger leading/sidemanning gigs and teaching in the greater New York area.
Reviews
Write a ReviewI've taken lessons with Emi as a beginner and later as a more experienced guitarist. Always a great lesson. He's a fantastic teacher for people of any experience level. He goes out of his way to tailor his lessons to whatever you specifically want to learn.

I've been trying to teach myself to play the guitar for months now, and I learned more with Emiliano in 2 lessons than I did in those months. If you really want to learn to play, get a lesson with Emiliano. It is worth it. He makes things easy to understand, and was super patient with me who has zero musical talent. I really cannot recommend him enough.

Emiliano is a fantastic teacher. I knew little to nothing about guitar before working with him and he was able to easily walk me through everything. Thanks Emiliano!

I've taken many lessons with Emi so far and I absolutely love working with him. He is an incredibly talented musician who is able to clearly explain things. He's a very easygoing guy and I feel like I've already improved so much in such a short time. I look forward to continuing to work with Emi.

Emiliano was terrific. I was comfortable from the first note.
Am looking forward to the next lesson.

Amazing teacher and has a deep understanding of the instrument. I have improved more with these lessons than I have with any other instructor! Emi is easy to work with and quick to identify the strengths and weaknesses in your play. Best music teacher you will find anywhere!

I've been taking lessons in acoustic guitar with music theory with Emiliano since the beginning of the year, and they're a highlight of my week. Emi is super accommodating and knowledgeable, and goes above and beyond to explain the connections between everything you're learning and keep track of your understanding.

Fantastic instructor with a breadth of knowledge but also the patience to explain everything. He is always willing to deconstruct concepts in order to make them easier to understand. Helped me understand fundamental chords and scales in theory and in practice. Also, he showed me how to play some songs i requested and showed me how to improve on the parts i had trouble with. Very nice guy and a real professional!

Emi is great at teaching guitar and a really cool guy! I’ve tried to learn to play so many times with no success. After a few lessons I can play several songs and I have a new hobby. Disclaimer: he’s a huge Cowboys fan!

Emi is very talented and educated in the field of music. His experience in many different genres and his playing ability seperates him from an average guitar teacher that you can have. He is also a great asset for theoretical knowladge! Thanks Emi!

Wanted to work on my ear training and I was recommended to Emi from a friend in Texas. We set up a call and I learned more in one hour then I have my whole musical career

My 6yo son has been taking guitar lessons for a couple months now and we have been thrilled with how much Emi has helped improve his skills. Would highly recommend
