Hi! I'm a professional cellist, and cello teacher. I've been teaching cello to kids and adults of all levels for 25 years. I love helping kids and adults find their musical selves!  I work hard with people to improve rhythm, note reading, and the technical aspects of playing the cello. 

Although English by birth, I grew up mostly in Houston, TX, and attended The High School for the Performing and Visual Arts, and then Eastman Conservatory. I started my professional career in the Orquesta Sinfonica de Sevilla (Spain) and then moved to London to pursue a freelance career.  I played with many of London’s finest orchestras, such as the Philharmonia, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Symphony, BBC Concert Orchestra, to name a few.  In addition to strictly classical playing, I also played with rock bands, solo artists, such as Gwen Stefani, Josh Groban and The Three Tenors, and even toured with some of them.  After eight years, I returned to Houston and quickly found work with the Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera, amongst other freelance opportunities.  I have kept an active teaching studio throughout my career.  I also teach beginning violin and viola.

Come see what the cello is all about.  I have so much experience teaching kids and adults of all ages.  I emphasize teaching the student to how to practice effectively so that they can maximize lesson time.  I like to keep things fun, but also like to teach students that are ready to learn.  Because I have an extensive professional performing history, I can teach many different styles, and can accommodate music requests for students to learn.

Ms Ellie helped my daughter achieve “Most Improved” in her school orchestra.  She taught her how to practice as well as how to play.

Ellie was great at explaining different techniques and being very patient! She knows tons of ways to help improve your playing and keeps you motivated. I improved so much!
