I have expanded my studio to teach online voice lessons on Zoom so you can work with me from anywhere!

My musical journey has led me through many genres: Folk, Rock, Blue grass, Musical Theater, Cabaret, a Cappella and Jazz. I bring experience with all of these different styles to my teaching and have helped take many a vocalist from the level of simply wanting to sing to the stage. I am notable for arranging and guiding vocalists toward mastery of nearly any genre of song.

I have been a Vocal Instructor for adults at U.C. Berkeley Extension, a Choral Director for teenagers in the Oakland Youth Chorus and a Music Instructor for children at Walden School in Berkeley and Beacon Day School in Oakland, CA.

I have recorded three Jazz CDs on my own label: Mercy! Ellen R. Live , On My Way To You , and Don't Wait Too Long. In addition to my own performance dates and recording projects, I am currently the Director of the Anything Goes Choruses in San Francisco and Oakland, CA. These are community choruses for men and women that I started in 1980. I also teach Jazz vocal classes at The California Jazz Conservatory in Berkeley, CA, a beginning singing class for women called Swingshift Singers in Oakland and Musical Theater classes at Stagebridge in Oakland, CA. , CA. I have worked with literally thousands of students throughout my life and I continue to be a dedicated to coaching my students.
