I am a professional editor, writing coach, and published author. I graduated from The Univerisity of South Carolina with a Bachelors of Arts in English, Literature, and Language with a concentration creative writing. I went on to receive my Masters of Education degree from Lesley Univerisity in Cambridge, MA with a concentration in interdisciplinary arts integration.
Creative writing students can expect to improve week to week in their writing technique. Every writer has a unique voice; I teach students to listen and take ownership of their voice and apply foundational techniques in order to unlock their own individual writing style. I can help any student to write with freedom, confidence, and expression.
I teach creative writing students of all different ages and experience levels. I've created writing programs for many different kinds of writers. I like to focus on style, voice, mood, tone, and basic to intermediary writing techniques depending on the goals and preference of the student.
As the student progresses, we will move on to Plot structure, character building, setting, and more advanced writing techniques; to include, but may not be limited to using tropes, inventive punctuation, innovative word choice, and self-editing. Depending again, on what the goals and needs of the student are.
As a professional writer, I frequently attend writing conferences, workshops, and lectures where I have the opportunity to meet and work with well-known authors and glean knowledge and inspiration from them. I love to mentor students who want to become effective, dynamic writers.
My personal passion is contemporary romanticism, but I firmly believe that great technique is essential to any and every style. I look forward to meeting you and helping you to write better, right now!
