    About Elizabeth S.

Elizabeth S. has graduated from Grand Valley State University with a two majors in English/Language Arts and Education. She also have two minors in French and Elementary Distributed. With her major in English and Literature, Elizabeth's specialty is with anything written at any age and experience level. She has studied the written works of great American and British authors from the past as well as different styles of writing from the modern time. It is because of this that Elizabeth knows the best ways to analyze written works and the best ways to write essays of any kind on those works. Also, Elizabeth has spent extensive time in France due to studying abroad and personal exhibitions to hone her french speaking and writing skills as well as experience the culture. Due to her time in the country, Elizabeth can speak French fluently with the inside knowledge of how the native French speaker words their phrases. Before Elizabeth became a teacher, she was working in many different teaching positions such as being a teacher's aide with Schoolcraft College's Kids on Campus program and a Gymboree Play and Music instructor. It is in these programs, along with her student teaching, that Elizabeth has gained experience working with students of all ages, from Kindergarten to 9th grade. Right now, Elizabeth is teaching a kindergarten class at Oakland Academy in Kalamazoo. The philosophy that Elizabeth brings into her classroom is that she believes that every student wants to learn. It is the teacher’s job to figure out how to teach and make lessons exciting to their students to unlock the excitement and passion for academic subjects. Through open dialogues and hands on activities, Elizabeth promises to make her lessons interesting and tailored to her students’ individual needs. Elizabeth's teaching style is firm and she expects her students to work hard, but she also makes lessons personable and celebrates success. **Lesson Details** Brain Warm Up - Students will complete a warm-up of the subject in which they are taking. Warm-ups will be an easy problem or question for students to answer and think about. Main Lesson - Together we will go into the difficulties that the students are having in the subject. This can include, but is not limited to: Going over homework, strengthening exercises, and academic/purposeful games. Ticket Out the Door - The ticket out the door is a review question of the time spent together that the student must answer. This helps me as a teacher see how effective my lesson was, and how much the student is learning.
