About Elizabeth D.

I am a violinist in the Colorado Symphony, a dog mom, and enthusiastic educator. I did my Bachelor of Music at Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music in Nashville, TN, where I was a frequent studio musician for video games and film music, as well as a sub in the Nashville Symphony. I completed my Master of Music and Performer Diploma at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University. While at IU, I studied pedagogy through the renowned IU String Academy, which has produced alumni at the highest levels of the music industry.
I employ a kind and encouraging teaching technique with an emphasis on making the space for students to develop their own musical preferences and artistry. The majority of my teaching experience has been with beginners and children under the age of 8, but I accept students of any age and ability. I loosely reference the Suzuki method and other established teaching philosophies but do not follow anything too strictly. My expertise and repertoire focus is in classical music, however, I am well-versed in a variety of musical genres and regularly perform with pop, rock, funk, folk, jazz, bluegrass, R&B, and rap artists.
Note to prospective students: I currently teach weekday afternoons & evenings. If my availability is incompatible with yours, please feel free to reach out about an alternative time, and I will be happy to accommodate when I can.

Student's home
Liz is a phenomenal violin instructor who always arrives on time! She is very patient with her students, and as a current intermediate player, she knows what she's doing in order to fit the needs of each individual! You can tell she's very passionate with teaching and wants her students to play confidently. Overall, I find all of her lessons motivating, exciting, and challenging at the same time.
