    About Elise K.

I am a professional harpist and musicologist with a passion for speaking and teaching French! I grew up bilingual, speaking French with my father and English with my mother. I spent a lot of time in France as a child, learning about French customs and traditions from my family. I have a unique perspective on all things France, and I am excited to share them with you! In addition to speaking at home, I took French classes (including AP French) in public school, so I have a solid background in grammar, writing, and reading comprehension. I am very familiar with the typical school curriculum so I will be able to help students who are seeking after school tutoring in conjunction with their classes. I have experience teaching children age 4 and up, and a lot of experience working with middle and high school students. I was a tutor in high school and in university in the subjects of French and Music Theory. Students can expect a tailored approach that fits their goals for French speaking. Whether you are hoping to become a better conversationalist or working on grammar skills, I will make sure that our sessions emphasize the appropriate subjects. For my day job, I am currently a Fulbright Scholar in Stockholm where I research historical musical instruments. I have a passion for languages, and I speak German and a bit of Swedish as well. I look forward to working with you and helping you speak French! A bientôt!

    Experience

    Research Fellow

    Aug, 2018 - Present

    The Fulbright Program

I research and restore harps from the 18th century at a museum in Sweden. By working with these harps I learn about the cultural practices in music in Western Europe and how it relates to history on a global scale. In my restoration practices I aim to conserve the instruments for future generations to enjoy.

Today we continue the Girl Scout mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place. We're the preeminent leadership development organization for girls. And with programs for girls from coast to coast and across the globe, Girl Scouts offers every girl a chance to do something amazing.
