Dutch School of Southern California

I substitute in-person Dutch classes for students aged 3-11 in North Hollywood. I read through the teacher's instructions and materials to use to prepare. I add my own flare to it by thinking through how to make the lesson engaging and enjoyable. Then before class, I make sure all the materials are ready for the students whether it's books or workbooks they will need to use. I do my best to get through as many of the teacher's requests as possible. However, they always give me more than enough material and they do not expect me to have covered all of it for them because it's better to have too much material than not enough.

I taught English online to students aged 6-11 in China. I prepared the lesson by using various props and notecards to make it as easy as possible for the student to learn English. I also used a rewards system and stuffed animals to encourage them and make the lesson fun.

Developed and taught programs and services that aligned with the organization’s mission, vision, and philosophies. Served as a role model for youth and established meaningful relationships that encouraged and motivated youth to have a bright future for themselves.

Taught Mirror Mirror and Freedom programs at Orangewood Child and Family Services Center for foster youth and children in Orange, CA.

Taught a program called Shine in a refuge for women rescued out of sex trafficking in Antwerpen, Belgium. The Shine program encourages women to have a personal understanding of their worth, strength, and purpose.

Little Lambs School & Orphanage

Alongside the orphans' counselor, I did different drama exercises with the children. It was fascinating to see how the drama exercises reflected the child's psychological state. It gave the counselor another perspective on some of the children's issues. She and I also collaborated on how she can continue doing drama exercises with the children individually and as a group. It was amazing to see how in a short period of time it brought out the needs of the kids but also bonded them closer together as a group.
