Guitar with Elijah W.

I’m a multi-instrumentalist, recording engineer, and songwriter - making records for a living in my hometown of LA. I received a scholarship to study at Berklee College of Music, and also graduated from the studio engineering course at The Blackbird Academy in Nashville, TN. Guitar is my primary instrument. I approach teaching and playing from an artistry-first standpoint. While we will go over theory and the fundamentals, none of those things will make you a good guitarist. That will come from your creativity and your love for playing. I encourage divergent thinking - breaking the rules when it sounds better that way, putting a weird chord where a normal one should be, etc. Students can expect a highly customized learning experience. After establishing what skill level you’re at, I want to skip directly to the fun part of learning what you signed up to learn. Want to play indie rock as a beginner? I’ll show you the fundamentals while we learn a song you pick. Want to play neo-soul as an intermediate player? Well, then I’m not going to make you learn indie rock and fundamentals! My only role as teacher is to help inspire you to find what you love, offering knowledge and insight that I’ve accumulated over my playing career.
