Cello

Levels Taught:
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
As with the piano, I tailor my cello teaching approach to my individual students' needs, and work to help my students pursue the instrument at the speed and level of intensity they desire. I am as happy to help beginners take casual lessons as I am to help more advanced students prepare for recitals and auditions. I believe that scales, arpeggios, and etudes are more essential to a cellist's development than anything else, so I encourage my students to focus on these exercises as much as they can. A balanced variety of repertoire is also important, of course, and I'm happy to recommend appropriate pieces to students or to help them through the works that most interest them.

Hello! My name is Elias, and I'm a classical cellist, pianist, and an aspiring symphony orchestra and opera conductor. I recently graduated from Harvard University where I studied music. Before transferring to Harvard, I attended the New England Conservatory of Music where I was a cello performance major and Tufts University where I studied history. As a cellist I have attended various music festivals including the Aspen Music Festival and School and the Bowdoin International Music Festival, and I have performed in concerts and master classes across the country. As a pianist, I have served as a rehearsal pianist and vocal coach for numerous operatic productions, and I frequently accompany both singers and instrumentalists. I am looking for piano and cello students of any age and level!
