I'm from Venezuela and besides being a Spanish tutor I'm also a former journalist who loves traveling. I've spent long periods of time in Spain, Ireland and The United States, and have also visited The Netherlands, France, Germany, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Slovakia, Lithuania, Russia, China and Hong Kong. For the last 5 years I've been living in Medellin, Colombia, where thanks to a vibrant expat community I have met great people from all over the world while helping them learn Spanish.
I hold certifications by International House and the University of Cambridge (TKT) to teach Spanish and English, respectively. I have gained experience in teaching English in Dublin, Ireland, where I spent 8 months as a student, and then in Texas, USA, where I volunteered to teach Spanish and English to children and adults for about 5 months. I'm always curious about my students' culture and lifestyle.
I share documents and other materials with each student, and during the first session I assess the student's level in terms of pronunciation, vocabulary and structure. Depending on the results and what the student needs, I will vary the amount of material on speaking, listening, reading and writing skills, as well as the topics to be covered. I will also try to focus mostly on words, sentence patterns, and phrases that are frequently used from a situational point of view.

Efrain is very patient and clear in his teaching. My experience with him was the best I've ever had with a tutor. He is an extremely knowledgeable and skilled teacher. Additionally, he is professional and kind. I felt he really cared about helping me be successful, and he provided me very useful resources and approaches to learning that I was able to use during my personal study time.Show More
