Discover the Music of the Organ with a Juilliard-Trained Organist

Love Bach, Franck, Widor? Want to learn the pipe organ? I would love to teach you! My name is Eddie and I am an organist studying at the Juilliard School in NYC. I'm currently pursuing my Artist Diploma degree and have experience playing organ concerts and teaching the organ. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced, with or without skills at the piano or keyboard, I can help you learn the skills necessary to play the organ lyrically, with ease, and with great enjoyment. I can help with anything from preparing performance pieces to playing service music, learning pedal technique and navigating the transition to organ for those with some piano experience. There's a world of music out there, from Bach to your favorite Hymns - let's learn them together! If you are in the New York City area, I'm available for in person lessons at my church, St Ignatius of Antioch in Manhattan. I also teach via Zoom to students around the world, so no matter where you are, if you are interested in learning the world's oldest and largest instrument, contact me for your first lesson. See you there!

Hi! I'm Eddie Z. a native of New York City. Currently, I'm studying with Paul Jacobs at the Juilliard school for my Artist Diploma degree. I recently received my Bachelor's and Master's degree from Juilliard in organ as well. I love teaching the organ, and believe that music written for the organ is so rich and requires a special approach to achieve maximum musicality. In addition to having performed in cities throughout North America, such as New York (St. Patrick's Cathedral), New Haven (Church of the Redeemer), Montreal (St. James United), and Eugene (First United Methodist Church), I've also performed in China at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Beijing Concert Hall, and Beijing Golden Sail Concert Hall. I have won first prize at the 2018 Albert Schweitzer Organ Competition, the 2019 Brooklyn AGO Organ Scholarship Competition, and the 2019 AGO Quimby Northeast Regional Competition. I attended the Juilliard Pre-College division for two years, studying with Matthew Lewis. Currently, I am the Assistant Organist at the Saint Ignatius of Antioch Episcopal Church in Manhattan. I've also maintained a career in the music production world, collaborating with hip hop and jazz artists on innovative compositions. When not playing organ, I love cycling, gardening, and brewing espresso. I'm looking forward to teaching you some organ music. Hope we have a chance to meet!

Super patient and attentive! I'm a composer/pianist who haven't played the organ for last ten years. I reached out to him on short notice prior to my audition, and he gave me a huge help in such a short time- we went through the pieces that I prepared focusing on differences between piano playing and organ playing, legato and pedal techniques (and I got the sub organist position :) Thanks, Eddie- you helped me make the transition!
