From the desk of Earl C: Here are a few frequently asked questions.

How does E. Carter Enterprises stand out?

With more than thirty years of experience, I have performed with quite a few well known artists including many grammy-nominated celebrities. My performance and recording resume includes Freddie Jackson, Regina Belle, Mya, Syleena Johnson, Coolio, EU, Tony Terry, Angela Bofill, Alyson Williams, Nick Colionne, Mike Phillips, Gerald Veasley, Michael Lington, Bobby Lyle, Marcus Johnson, Bob Baldwin, Bobby Humphrey, Miles Jaye, Pamela Williams and many others. In addition, I have released eight solo recording projects and worked as the music director for overseas projects, television shows and more. My influences are: Jimi Hendrix, Carlos Santana, George Benson, Peter White, Wes Montgomery, Jimmy Page, Norman Brown and many other great guitarists.

Most of my sessions take place at my Greenbelt Maryland recording studio or online. I offer sessions that range from learning how to become a skillful musician in multiple genres to consultation on how to become a full-time musician as well as teaching techniques in lead guitar, rhythm guitar, finger-style performance, chord inversions, improvisation, jamming skills, site reading, ear training, music theory, scales & exercises, song writing, recording & production, guidance in equipment selection and more.

If you're seeking music lessons, your first session with me will usually include an instructional book at no additional cost. However beginners will need to have their own instrument and accessories (required for practice). I work with each individual based on his/her personal goals and believe that every client has a unique gift.

What do I enjoy about the work I do?

After many years in Corporate America, I am now a full-time musician who travels the world, produces national and local artists, runs an independent record label and coaches new clients on a regular basis. If you're in the Washington, D.C. area, you can hear and/or meet me in person at many of the local concerts I perform or on Sunday mornings in Silver Spring, MD at The Bridge Church located at Takoma Park Middle School, 7611 Piney Branch Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20910, (10:30 AM - 11:45 AM).

What is my typical process for working with a new client?

Since every client has a unique talent, each individual's training is based on his/her personal goals.

Do I have a standard pricing system for my music lessons?

My regular rate is $40 per 30 minute session or $60 per 60 minute session. However I am presently offering introductory rates of $30 for 30 minutes and $50 for 60 minutes.

How did I get started teaching?

Several people that attended my live concerts asked if I offer private tutoring so I decided to offer music lessons in an effort to help musicians reach their personal goals.

What types of clients have I worked with?

I've worked with beginner, intermediate and advanced musicians in multiple genres but specialize in teaching beginners.

What's a recent event/venue that I'm fond of?

I recently performed Blues Alley for the sixth time as a solo artist and have performed there somewhere between 50 to 100 times as a sideman for celebrities as well.

What advice would I give a client looking to hire a teacher in my area of expertise?

Becoming a fluent musician requires practice. Becoming a successful full-time musician takes dedication. Remember, the more you practice, the better you’ll get. Therefore, how quickly you excel is ultimately up to you.

What questions should clients think through before talking to trainers about their needs?

Determine what you actually want to accomplish from your sessions and make sure you are both on the same page before selecting a trainer.

What styles of music do I cover?

Current genres offered are Jazz, Christian, R&B, Reggae, Blues, Alternative and Pop. Clients can focus on one or two styles while developing the basic skills needed to play others as well.

What age groups do I work with?

Ages eight years old to adult.

Where are my sessions held?

Sessions are provided in Greenbelt MD, the DC-MD-VA area or worldwide via online internet/webcam.

What materials are provided?

An instructional book will be provided for clients that are seeking lessons at our Greenbelt studio location.

What materials are not provided?

Clients will need to have his/her own instrument and accessories (required for practicing at home).

How soon can I start?

If you’re ready to get started, feel free to schedule an appointment.

Earl Carter is extremely knowledgeable, and very patience. You will find that each session is enjoyable yet challenging. I would recommend Him to anyone from the beginner all the way to the more advanced student. If you have the desire to learn the art of music then you will enjoy His instruction. I couldn't ask for a better instructor.

Although I lacked the commitment to follow through with my lessons, Earl's teaching ability is STELLAR!!! In the short time I was taking lessons with him, I learned a lot, relatively quickly.

Aside from being a Master Guitarist himself, he is a Master Teacher! His teaching style is very unique and the little tips and tricks he has taught me has helped me advance as a guitarist by leaps and bounds. I highly recommend him!

To whom it may concern although I've never taken guitar lessons from Mr Carter one thing I can assure you is that he is a great musician and guitarist.

His musicianship and his professionalism as well as his personality all adds up to one thing just a great person with a gift from God. I must highly recommend him for any project course of learning guitar or studio project that you may like to have him to work with you on.

I had a wonderful first lesson with Earl and I'm looking forward to our next session. He made sure that I fully understood what I had learn in that one hour session including the type of guitar I wanted to use, reading notes and chords, playing a few strings, sitting comfortably, and most importantly, he is patient and he answered my questions by giving me detailed explanations.
