Singing with Duane L.

Duane is available for online lessons through this platform. Duane have been singing for the past 20 years, where he have taken numerous vocal instructions from both his home country in Trinidad and Tobago and in the United States. With the knowledge he has gained, he is well qualified to pass on those lessons to his students who are eager to learn, implement and apply what they have learnt. Duane will train his students to have confidence in their abilities to sing, help them to find their voice, produce quality sound through diction, tonality and posture. For the most part, he wants to create an environment for his students to have fun with their musical selections. He loves teaching because he has a passion to see people who may have a fear in singing or who also have a desire to develop their singing abilities. Duane’s goal is to focus on what the student wants to accomplish in singing, and develop techniques and skills to reach their goals. Our exercises will comprise of vocal warm up, singing techniques, singing scales, arpeggios, breath controls, word pronunciations, rhythm and much more. To be successful as a student, Duane expects each student to come with an open mind even if they have prior experience singing, be willing to learn new things even if it seems strange. After 3 or 6 months students will know how to breathe properly and effectively for singing support and endurance. I prefer to work with students at a beginner or intermediate level, as opposed to advanced students. Duane specializes on teaching Folk songs, Oratorios, Arias, Gospel/Christian music, Soul/R&B, and Classical. Students will have the ability to choose the music that they will love to learn and a lesson will be planned around that genre. Duane attended Andrews University, Berrien Springs Michigan, where acquired his degree in BA Music. During his studies there, he has been a part of a few groups such as the Andrews University Singers (Touring group), Men’s Chorus, Journey (acapella group), Quartets and Trio groups. Duane is also trained as a Baritone/ Bass singer. However, he has an excellent head voice for those students who sing in the higher registers.
