I genuinely love connecting with students through music to help them reach their personal goals and I believe that my approach towards learning music is deeply rewarding, engaging, and aids brain development. Below is my professional bio to give a sense of some of my influences and performing experience.
Drew is a guitarist, composer, improviser, and educator based out of Boston, Massachusetts. A Masters of Music alumnus of New England Conservatory, his music combines elements of his background in jazz with the ferocious rhythmic energy of noise and abstracted lyricism of influences such as Don Cherry, Cecil Taylor and Julius Hemphill. Other influences include Morton Feldman, György Ligeti, Karlheinz Stockhausen, Bjork, J Dilla, The Mars Volta, and Alhaji Bai Konte. His compositional style aims to create dynamic, self-perpetuating musical spaces which embrace players’ idiosyncrasies and allow the music to grow from itself organically while maintaining a unique intensity. He has performed at a variety of notable venues across the country including NEC’s Jordan Hall, The Lillypad, Outpost 186, Wally’s, Birdland, The Freight and Salvage, The Firehouse Space, and John Zorn’s The Stone.
