I have been playing the bass guitar and guitar for over fifteen years. My genres of expertise are Funk, Reggae, Jazz-Fusion, and Rock, My philosophy of teaching a musical instrument is to get my students to be musical with their instrument. During our sessions I will train your hands to be more fluent on the neck of the guitar or bass guitar while training your mind to associate patterns on the neck of the instrument. This will build fluency in the language of music. Over time, this fluency will build, especially in jam sessions, which is something I do with all of my students. There's nothing like having an experienced instructor there to have converse with through the instrument. This style of instruction worked for me, and it will work for you, too!
