    About Douglas S.

My name is Doug and I have been teaching professionally either in the public school systems of Connecticut or privately for over 22 years. I possess a Masters Degree in Liberal studies from Albertus Magnus College and a Bachelors degree in Music from Western Connecticut State University. I own and operate a private teaching studio in Connecticut which has been in business since 2005. Along with teaching I am also a professional musician and have been since the age of 13. I have gigged and recorded professionally in and around the tri-state area for numerous years.Music is and has always been my only form of income,so teaching and playing is much more than just a hobby to me it is my life and my livelihood. When a student chooses me as his/her instructor they can feel confident that they are learning the instrument correctly and that they will be benefiting from many years of schooling and independent study with some of the industries most esteemed and trusted instructors/musicians. *** Lesson Details *** When studying with me each student can expect an organized formulated lesson geared toward each students individual goals. My curriculum is different for each student for no two students are exactly the same. When beginning lessons a student can expect to be evaluated so that a baseline level can be set. From there all students will be taught to read, write and create music. This is accomplished by learning music theory and then applying it to the instrument in a specific method that suits each particular student. Students will be studying from a variety of books some of which have been authored by me. After six months of lessons (if they follow instructions and practice daily) a student should be able to play through basic chord progressions read and comprehend basic melodies and be well on their way to attaining a more advanced level of study as well as a greater appreciation and love for music. Studying music with me will be fun, rewarding and challenging. I look forward to teaching you and building a long lasting musical friendship. *** Studio Equipment *** Large professional studio with two big rooms with plenty of seating for studio guests along with free wi-fi and local telephone use. Studio amenities: Apple Macintosh technology,MI Audio monitors,Tascam recording,Eden,Marshall and Henriken Amplification, numerous guitars of all make and models. *** Travel Equipment *** Amp, guitar, stand books *** Specialties *** Rock, jazz, funk, punk, reggae, rockabilly, metal, hardcore.
