Hello, I'm Douglas, a 33 year-old cellist and composer living in Seattle. I have been playing cello for 19 years and have been composing for 14. I started teaching lessons in 2010 at Texas Tech University where I graduated with my Bachelor's of Music in education and composition in 2013. I then moved to Seattle to attend the Seattle Film Institute and graduated with a Master's in Film Composition in 2014. Since then, I have spent my time teaching professionally for 6 years in Seattle as well as another 3 years in Texas. I've also scored several short films and video games (Shroud of the Avatar, Kingsmen, Tokyo Ghoul: Dark War, ReWrite) as well as writing arrangements for a HI SCOR3: a videogame orchestra.

Excellent first lesson! Douglas was very patient, he corrected my daughter hand positions and show her the proper way to play the cello. He explained things clearly and made the lesson fun!

Doug is great - he's patient, supportive, positive, and provides enough structure to make me feel like I'm progressing while understanding the challenges of an adult student's schedule.

Doug was on time (early, in fact!), super helpful, pointed out some minor tweaks that make a huge difference to my playing (things that I never learned in my previous cello lessons) and has been really accommodating. He's lent me some of his books and has offered to transcribe some songs I want to work on! Thanks!
