I'm Douglas, a 27 year-old cellist and composer living in Seattle. I have been playing cello for 15 years and have been composing for 12. I started teaching lessons in 2010 at Texas Tech University where I graduated with my Bachelor's of Music in education and composition in 2013. I then moved to Seattle to attend the Seattle Film Institute and graduated with a Master's in Film Composition in 2014.
Since then, I have spent my time scoring several short films and video games (Shroud of the Avatar, Kingsmen) as well as writing arrangements for a HI SCOR3: a videogame orchestra.

Excellent first lesson! Douglas was very patient, he corrected my daughter hand positions and show her the proper way to play the cello. He explained things clearly and made the lesson fun!
Doug is great - he's patient, supportive, positive, and provides enough structure to make me feel like I'm progressing while understanding the challenges of an adult student's schedule.
Doug was on time (early, in fact!), super helpful, pointed out some minor tweaks that make a huge difference to my playing (things that I never learned in my previous cello lessons) and has been really accommodating. He's lent me some of his books and has offered to transcribe some songs I want to work on! Thanks!+ Read More
I've had 5 lessons with Doug now and it has been so much fun and a pleasure every time! I am excited to continue my progress with him. Thanks Doug!
Communicative in terms of scheduling and getting things set up, showed up on time, and had a great first lesson! I already have some music knowledge so Douglas was willing to progress at my pace, and we covered a lot of ground on day 1.
I mentioned when I set up my initial lessons with Doug that my long term goal was to play modern and contemporary music by living composers. He has since gone out of his way to transcribe and modify pieces by popular composers for me to learn. I have been very impressed by his ability to choose pieces that are not only appropriate to my playing level but also introduce only the cello techniques I am ready to learn. I would gladly recommend him as a teacher for his genuine interest in my improvement.+ Read More
