Upright Bass with Dor S.

Dor Samoha (bass player) was born in Ramat Gan, Israel in 1993. He began playing the electric bass at the age of 10, and after a few years he began playing the double bass and studying jazz. In addition to his jazz studies, Dor has studied classical double bass with the principal bass player of the Israeli Philharmonic Orchestra, Teddy Kling, and the principal bass player of the New York Philharmonic Max Zeunger. In jazz, his other teachers include Ben Wolfe, Joe Martin, Neal Miner, Billy Harper, Gilad Abro, Amit Golan and more. In 2011 Dor graduated from the Thelma Yellin High School of High Arts. In 2012, 2013 and 2016, he won the American-Israeli Cultural Foundation’s scholarship in its full amount. In 2014, Dor graduated from the Center for Jazz Studies Tel Aviv Conservatory New School program. While serving in the military, Dor acted as a bass player and arranger for the Israeli Air Force Orchestra. In 2016, he moved to New York City and began his studies at The New School's School of Jazz and Contemporary Music on a merit scholarship. Throughout the years, Dor has played with some of today’s leading Israeli jazz musicians such as Amos Hoffman, Shay Zelman, Erez Bar Noy, Illan Salem, Amit Freedman, Eli Degibri, Yuval Cohen, Hagi Amir and more. Dor has collaborated with New York City based musicians such as Rodney Green, Joe Farnsworth, Chris Cheek, Warren Wolf, Aaron Diehl, Wayne Escoffery, Kirk Lightsy, Dave Kikosky, Tamir Hendelman, and Alan Harris, amongst others.
