I've taught psychology for more than 15 years, mostly online, and mostly to an unlikely audience -- art students! My passion is combining psychology and creativity. I not only have a MA in psychology, but I am also completing an MFA in screenwriting and am working on starting my own film production company. So -- writers, actors, game designers and other creative people -- I'm here for you!

About Diane Q.

I was born and raised in Southern California about 15 minutes away from the beach, which I still miss. During the 1990s I became an expert on long-distance moves, living in eight different states within 10 years. Now, for the moment anyway, I’m settled in Sacramento, which is about 100 miles away from the beach but is also virtually snow-free.

I started out as a journalism major at Fullerton College, where I was editor-in-chief of the college newspaper. I received a B.A. in psychology from California State University, Sacramento and an M.A. from the clinical psychology training program at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. Along the way I also did graduate work in biology at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and was a theater/music major at New Mexico State University. In my previous lifetimes I have worked as a bank teller in Times Square, sold mouse ears at Disneyland, worked as a light/sound board operator and stage manager in L.A., spent a couple of years as a newspaper reporter and theater critic for a daily newspaper in Orange County. I’ve also administered neuropsychological tests at the Cognitive Disorders Clinic at the University of Michigan Medical Center, coordinated research studies at the University of Washington and UC Davis Medical Center, and worked with psychiatric inpatients at the Nebraska State Hospital. For nearly 15 years I taught psychology, mostly online. Now I’m working in my own business as an ADHD coach while finishing my MFA in professional screenwriting. I want to use my psychology knowledge to create films and videos!

If you’re a psychology major, great. If you are in a different major and find yourself struggling through your psychology class, that’s great too. You’ve come to the right place. I’m looking forward to working with you!
