Devin is an excellent and knowledgeable teacher! He taught me the basics of Ableton and the details of music production, recording audio/midi tracks, sound libraries, effects, etc. He guided me through the songwriting process, and made this complex software easier to navigate through and understand. I highly recommend Devin for anyone interested in enhancing their skills in music production. Thank you Devin for all your help!+ Read More
Devin is so personable and easy-going! He was prepared for our lessons and helped me better understand the material. He's the best!
The lesson went very well. Devin was patient and answered all of my questions of which I had many. He was very thorough in teaching me hand placement and strumming technique. I was very happy with the lesson and feel I quickly gained confidence.
Devin is an experienced Guitarist and teacher as well.
He makes me feel like i'm his only student. He teaches me on pace. I never had a guitar or played as a child. And he is just very patient. Even if you are not a fast learner, he will get you on the right track in just a few lessons.
Devin is great! He is incredibly knowledgeable and patient. As someone learning an instrument the first time, I've found my lessons with him to be a tremendous help in learning both the fundamentals and critical areas of music theory.
This was my 1st lesson. Devin was patient with me and took the time to teach and go over everything at my pace. With Devin's lessons and practice I'm eager to learn and look forward to the next appointment.
I am having lessons with Devin almost every week for a while now. We have lessons at his studio and online. Both locations are great.
For me, there are pros to having both location options available depending on my schedule that morning.
His way of teaching is great. I'm an adult and never played a guitar before. And I feel he has an enormous amount of patients. But he is not afraid to introduce something new. If I tell him I'm not clear with something we learned last time he will repeat it. And go it over with me. Technically he really had me playing songs very soon in the lessons. But I'm not necessarily the fastest learner so the most important thing is my responsibility.
Practice Practice Practice.
I recommend Devin to any one that wants to start learning guitar. Or needs to improve.
As I mentioned before, I'm an adult. But I could only imagine he'd do great with children.
Oh, I just reminded my self one more nice thing about Devin the teacher. When I'm with him, or online with him. For some reason he makes me feel like the lessons he provides are created for me. Not just random lessons. he goes according to my pace.
Devin is without question the best guitar teacher I have ever had. Aside from being an excellent player, Devin is a fantastic communicator, and he has a way of explaining even the most complex concepts in a way I can grasp. Whenever he leaves my apartment, I'm always sad the lesson is ending, and excited to dig into the assignments he leaves for me.+ Read More
I only had a one lesson so far and I feel like I know something about quitar already. We dived right into it. So I have enough to practice until my next lesson. We actually do it through Skype and it worked out great.
Five stars, he was great!
So far I'm learning quite a bit from Devin!
Passionate in music, passionate in teaching. What more can you ask for? Fantastic instructor.
My lessons with him were cool.
My son and I cannot recommend Devin highly enough. As a true beginner, my son needed structure and patience. Devin immediately got to know my son and figured out the best approach for his interests, level, and learning style. Each week for an hour, the two would sit and go through lessons in a book, basic exercises, beginning songs, and playtime. My son could not wait to see Devin each week as he really felt Devin cared about him as a student. Devin is timely and flexible, dedicated and thoughtful. As talented as he is kind, Devin is an obvious choice for anyone looking for acoustic guitar lessons.+ Read More
Amazing first lesson, picked up right away. I look forward to many more! Thank You!
Devin is a great teacher. He gave my son lessons on basic guitar playing in a very simple way that made my son comfortable and eager to learn. He makes the lesson interesting and easy to understand. Devin is a great teacher. He gave me a lesson on elementary music theory in a way I've never learned it. He makes complex material very accessible, and advanced my learning greatly. I look forward to many more lessons with Devin.
I highly recommend , if you are interested in developing your guitar skills and/ or expanding your knowledge of music theory , to schedule an appointment with Devin for a lesson . I came from my native Brazil to study jazz at an american college and he patiently introduced me to jazz music . I not only was able to succeed in my jazz ensemble classes with straight A's , but I also got prepared to audition successfully to universities and will be completing my bachelors degree in music soon. And I thank Devin for that .+ Read More
Devin is such a great teacher when he was my teacher I was completely new to jazz and he was patient with me and helped me get better in and outside of class very much worth the money
I had the privilege of taking guitar, ensemble, arrangement/composition, and theory lessons with Devin for 3 years. Not only is he very knowledgeable in his field, but he also has a knack for communicating his lessons in an easy-to-understand manner. Devin truly listens and is genuinely patient. He tailors his lessons to help you achieve your personal goals while simultaneously giving you a well-rounded, solid foundation in music standards. Plus, he's just a really nice guy! Definitely recommended!+ Read More
I learned practically everything I know about jazz and other contemporary improvised music from Devin. I hadn't seen a bigger improvement in my playing any time prior to taking ensembles instructed by him. He has a deep understanding of music in general, and I still apply things I've learned from him in my composition and playing today. A great instructor, mentor and friend.+ Read More
Several years ago I had Devin for a Jazz Guitar Ensemble and to this day I feel fortunate to have had it that way. Devin always had a keen insight when it came to students in my ensemble; he understood the importance of technique when it came to practical habits but taught so in a manner which consistently upheld the quality of performance. Above all, Devin had such patience and a down-to-Earth personality that I felt like I was learning from an older brother. Having always encouraged my musical pursuits and inspiring me with his own, I recommend a mentor and a friend.+ Read More
Devin is simply the best teacher. He is down to earth but has so much knowledge as a guitar teacher. I stopped looking for a guitar teacher because I could not find someone that could explain things the way Devin does. If you are on the fence about taking lessons from Devin, just do it! He will take your playing to the next level.
Have know Devin A. for almost 4 years both as a personal friend and a valued teacher who has opened up not only my mind but my heart to the endless possibilities that Jazz Guitar has to offer. If ever I could choose the perfect teacher he is the one I would choose every time. He has brought my guitar playing to a whole new level. Thank you Devin for being who you are, Joel Mahler+ Read More
