"A Nashville-native & music industry professional with a big heart for teaching" I LOVE teaching music and especially being a guitar teacher! My entire life has revolved around learning, teaching guitar lessons and performing music. I've played guitar for over 80 bands in Nashville, including 28 major-label artists such as Thomas Rhett ("Marry Me", "Die a Happy Man"), Mike Posner ("Cooler Than Me", "I Took a Pill in Ibiza"), Jake Owen, Florida Georgia Line, LeAnn Rimes and many more. I have over 24 years of playing experience, a Bachelor's Degree in classical guitar, experience playing every instrument in the orchestra, 15 years teaching experience. I have done every tour from 15 passenger vans and trailers, to NFL Stadium Tours, and everything in between. I now play lead guitar for Precious Byrd around the Pacific Northwest and beyond. I hope to see you at a show! I have a love and passion for teaching not only guitar, but MUSIC. I'm very excited to be offering guitar lessons in Bend, Oregon and Redmond, Oregon. Derek is a fantastic guitar teacher. His approach to teaching is so different than other instructors I've worked with in that he really caters to the needs of his students and adjusts his teaching style accordingly. I've seen so much growth in my own playing. Definitely the best guitar teacher ever.

Highly recommend! I initially only began with the idea of taking 1 month of lessons and now I'm in my 3rd month! Derek caters the lessons to meet my needs- I'm a tactile learner, and he approaches teaching guitar to me from that standpoint. I would highly recommend him as a guitar teacher.

I had been playing for about 4 years and couldn't really get past a certain point with my guitar skills. I had kinda hit one plateau after another. Derek took my guitar playing to another level. The way he explains the guitar and music is simple but pretty eye opening. If you're in Bend, I would highly recommend Derek for guitar lessons.
