I have been playing chess for 30 + years and have a USCF expert rating... I am in the top 1 percent on chess.com on online games. I have taught chess in afterschool programs and one on one in homes for over 10 years. I learned chess when I was 7 years old however I didn't take it seriously until I met a chess mentor who instructed me about serious chess. This was during the summer of the historic Fischer Spassky of 1972 I feel I have great patience, especially with young children as their attention span is usually not that long. I have taught children as young as 4 with success and children on the autism spectrum. Learning chess at an earlier age is considered better in my opinion I have a psychology degree from UCLA I once taught chess on a transatlantic cruise ship and have been a chess consultant to Mike Nichols ( The Graduate) on one of his movies "Charlie Wilson's War" (2007) I am located in the West Los Angeles area and do house calls to student's homes.
