Levels Taught:
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
I've been composing concert music for two decades, have taught private lessons and masterclasses at colleges and universities, and spent several years teaching songwriting workshops in NYC-area middle schools and high schools. I'm happy to work with a range of students, from those who are just starting out and want to learn how to get their ideas down on paper, to more advanced composers who are interested in expanding and refining their existing technique. In addition to musical instruction, part of my approach is to feed the whole musician by incorporating non-musical arts (literature, film, visual arts) into lessons and discussions, expanding knowledge of repertoire, and, for more advanced students, discussing career issues.
