Classical Voice

Levels Taught:
Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
I began my training as a classical singer in high school, and I have spent the past decade training to be the best musician and classical singer as I possibly can be. I am a firm believer that a classical technique should be the basis of any kind of vocal training, whether or not a student's goals include singing classical music, because it is the healthiest, safest and most effective way of singing. With my experience as a singer and a vocal student and my knowledge of opera and art song, I absolutely love teaching classical voice!

I am a conservatory trained classical singer who has been performing professionally for eight years and teaching privately for five. I'm very comfortable teaching a wide variety of genres and tailor my teaching style entirely to a student's level of experience, goals, voice type, age and musical interests. In addition to teaching vocal technique and repertoire, I am very comfortable teaching essential musical skills such as sight singing and music theory.
As a performer, I have appeared with such companies as Washington National Opera, Baltimore Concert Opera, Lyric Opera Baltimore, The Art Song Preservation Society and Peabody Opera Theater.

As a teacher, I fully believe that you don't have to want to be a professional singer in order to want voice lessons. I love teaching students who simply love music and want to be better at it. Even though I'm a professional singer myself, I believe that the point should always be to enjoy singing, and whether your goal is to make money as a singer or to feel more confident doing karaoke (both real things that have brought students to me!), I want you to have fun doing it. I also want to show you that singing is a skill, and anyone can learn to do it.

*Note about my apartment: I teach lessons in my home, and I have a pet kitten. She's extremely friendly and would love nothing more than to bask in your attention, but if you'd prefer not to be around her or you are allergic, it's no problem at all. I'm happy to make sure she's kept in a different room during your lesson. All you have to do is let me know before your lesson that you'd prefer not to be around her, and you won't see her at all.

My daughter has enjoyed her her first lesson with Delaney and she is looking forward to continue her singing lesson with her in the future.

Singing · In studio

Lane was an amazing instructor. She is easy to talk to, and listens to the student. I learned so much during my time with her. I was very disappointed when she had to leave the school. Lane is extremely knowledgable, and makes learning fun. I hope our singing paths cross again!
