Débo is a professional vocalist and composer/arranger who seeks to push the boundaries of the perception of the human voice. After receiving a diploma from the New England Conservatory Prep School in classical voice, musical theater, and music theory, she attended and is now a graduate of Berklee College of Music with a dual major in classical composition and vocal performance.
Debo performs in various styles, including jazz, RnB, pop, rock, soul, funk, gospel, classical, and musical theater. She has performed at such venues as the Blue Note Jazz Club, Carnegie Hall, and the Kennedy Center, also touring extensively in the United States, Japan, Canada, Italy, Costa Rica, and Russia. She has collaborated with many expert musicians, namely Bobby McFerrin, Terri Lyne Carrington, and Esperanza Spalding. She is currently a member of internationally renowned vocal group Women of the World.
Within voice lessons, Debo creates a haven in which her students can identify their vocal needs on a personal basis. She provides them with the necessary techniques to educate themselves, whatever their level of study may be. These include breath support/control, tone quality, interpretation, song study, genre/style analysis, diction/speech training, and performance techniques.
"I love my students! Their drive motivates me to be a better teacher, which drives them further on their journey. I look forward to helping you! Remember, to thine own voice be true. Let me bring out the best in you!"
