    About Debbie F.

Introduction: Debbie is available for lessons in her home studio in Potterstone Village, Pittsboro. Music is a lifelong gift that Debbie is so excited to share with you and help you accomplish all your musical dreams and goals. She especially loves to work with children and adults with ADD and ADHD because she knows personally how music can positively impact and benefit the brain of one diagnosed with those conditions. In fact, ADD and ADHD are conditions that are viewed as a benefit when learning music, and strengthens your ability to learn and play an instrument. And conversely, learning a musical instrument actually increases your ability to focus and concentrate, translating to all other areas of your life as well. Debbie has been playing guitar, ukulele, and clarinet for over years 30 and has been giving private lessons since 1997. Debbie teaches children and adults from beginner to intermediate levels. She especially enjoys teaching parents who want to learn just a few basic chords on guitar and ukulele to give them the ability to create a fun and engaging musical experience that they can share with their children. Getting started is really easy and lots of fun in the process! Debbie enjoys a variety of musical genres including, but not limited to; classical, jazz, folk, rock, pop, and children's music. So, if you are looking to change your life or the life of your child, give them the gift of music by scheduling a lesson with Debbie right now. If you do not see a time on her schedule that is convenient for you, please contact her and she will make every effort to work with you to get you scheduled for a time that works best for you. Experience: Debbie attended Suffolk College in Selden, New York, where she earned her degree in music performance as a clarinet and voice major. She continued her musical training in music performance at the prestigious Aaron Copeland School of Music at Queens College in Flushing, Queens, NY, where admittance is by audition only, also majoring in clarinet and voice. In addition to learning about musical performance, she also received vigorous training in music theory, sight reading, dictation, and ear training. All these skills are paramount to succeeding as an exceptional musician and musical instructor. Although Debbie was trained as a classical clarinetist and vocalist, she was also a member of the guitar ensemble and played clarinet and alto sax in the jazz band, giving her experience in other genres of music as well beyond classical. After graduating college, Debbie spent a few years playing her clarinet and alto sax in the orchestra for numerous musicals in theaters around the New York area. In addition, she also sang and played acoustic guitar during college with her band in local establishments around Long Island. Most recently, before the birth of her children, Debbie was active in the musical program of her church in Cary, NC, where she sang in the choir, played clarinet in the chamber orchestra for special musical events, and played guitar and ukulele, and sang for the children's Sunday school. Activities she looks forward to returning to in the near future. Currently, Debbie plays mostly for her own pleasure, and plays guitar and ukulele on a regular basis for her Wife and two young children, engaging them in fun singing and dancing musical time. "Music is a staple in our home and I hope to help you make it a staple in your home as well. Music truly brings people and families together!" "Music is life. That is why our hearts have beats." ~ Cecily Morgan
