I've been teaching piano lessons for 35 years. I've taught elementary music, jr high choir, high school choir, voice and clarinet lessons.  My passion belongs to the piano and teaching others to enjoy playing the instrument, as much as I do.  I run a music studio, where 3 teachers teach a total of 78 students per week.  I enjoy teaching classical, pop, hymns, and other styles of music, with the exception of jazz. ( While I enjoy listening to jazz, I am not comfortable teaching it.)  I prefer students to finish the 1st grade before beginning lessons and I've taught students up to age 70.  I've done some research on different teaching styles and learning styles, so I try to use whatever method works best for each of my students.

Hi! I love teaching music, and started my piano teaching career while I was still in high school.  I graduated from East Texas Baptist University, with a Bachelor of Music degree, in 1986.  I am certified to teach All Level Music Education, with a concentration in piano and a minor in voice.  I've been the church accompanist for 27 years.  While I taught music in the public schools for 22 years, my love is teaching piano.  In our first lesson, we will start off slow, and progress each week, learning new notes, at each lesson.  We will review, relearn and re-do when needed. We will progress forward as quickly as your fingers want to.  I look forward to meeting you and starting our first piano lesson!!

My daughter (age 15) started her first lesson with Deanna over 4 years ago and has learned so much.  Deanna is a wonderful person who truly loves what she does.  My daughter looks forward to going to her lesson each week and has not just learned the piano but has made a dear friend in the process.
