Hand embroidery lessons from an experienced teacher

This is not a machine embroidery class. Get ready to move beyond the basic cross stitch (by hand). Let me coach you on specialty stitches such as satin, queen, eyelets, Rhodes, French knots and more. Let me repeat, this will not be a machine embroidery class, every stitch will be made by hand! I've been cross stitching since 1983 and teaching it for over 16 years. Within the first few lessons, you'll learn how to organize your material for easier sewing, master basic stitches, and as time goes on you'll be able to tackle complicated stitches and designs. I specialize in counted cross stitch, but also have experience with redwork, drawnwork, Bargello, pulled thread, hardanger, and canvaswork. Typically, I use The Cross Stitcher's Bible by Jane Greenoff but can recommend other helpful resources. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels and I can't wait to meet you!

About Dawn Z.

Connecticut high school librarian by day, crafter for life. Due to my busy schedule please select "schedule later" and I will contact you to set a schedule. I'm a certified BurdaStyle teacher, award winning embroider, quilter and knitter. I advise a high school sewing club as well as volunteer with Days for Girls. Please note, during the summers my schedule is more flexible when school is not in session. Students will find I'm passionate about all needle arts and want to pass that along to all generations and skill levels. Learning to sew, knit or hand embroider can be intimidating, but with the right support can become a lifelong hobby that provides joy to your life. Let me show you how to get started. I look forward to helping you exercise your creative side.

Dawn is fantastic! As a total newbie, I was clueless about bobbins and stitches. But Dawn's patience and clear instructions made sewing feel like a breeze. ~Expert Guidance:Dawn breaks down complex steps into bite-sized pieces. ~Interactive Learning:Her online classes are engaging and interactive. Highly recommend her class.
