I've been a musician since fifth grade, playing drums and percussion before learning a little bass and a lot of guitar (and singing) as an adult. With a basis in formal training, I've become a well-rounded musician in a self-taught fashion, by setting realistic goals and enjoying the processes. I'm currently working on a project with other like-minded musicians and writing songs from the genres of power pop, folk and pop. *** Lesson Details *** As a former high school math teacher, I can recognize a student's self-motivation and only push when beneficial. The student and I determine the correct pace and find enjoyable study materials together. No student starts with hopes of learning scales, chords or rhythms. Students have songs in mind, songs that they want to play. We'll connect what the student wants to learn with what they already know, pinpointing areas of weakness to strengthen the student's overall knowledge. I'll help the student develop their ears as well as their hands.
