Born into a musical family, I found a violin in my hands at age 4. Music is my true passion, and yet it is nothing unless I can share my craft with others. I am offering private violin lessons in the city of Orange. Whether you are seeking a music career or simply want to experience the benefits of what music can provide - which there are many - I am here to assist in your musical journey. All ages are welcome as well as all experience levels. With a commitment to learn, and discipline to practice, one can expect to develop a general fluency of the instrument within 3 to 6 months. The fundamental elements required to succeed on the violin are transferable and beneficial to all endeavors and pursuits.

I have a formal education in violin performance and am actively participating in performance engagements locally and abroad. As a freelance performer I have experience playing in various ensembles, venues, and genres~ from classical music to rock bands. I recently toured China with the Camerata Philadelphia as assistant concertmaster. I currently hold the Principal Second chair for the Dana Point Symphony Orchestra. My experiences as a professional musician are an asset to guide students on there discovery of a wonderful instrument, the violin.

The violin is my specialty. I am classically trained but am not limited to classical music. I have experience in orchestral playing, chamber music, as well as rock bands. Solid fundamentals will insure success in any genre that may come.

David Chavez is a phenomenal violinist and it is a priviledge to study with him.

Experience, education and extraordinary talent combined with the ability to develop proper technique, extensive knowledge of repertoire, and strength as a communicator make David Chavez one of the best violin teachers in Southern California.

Brilliant Violinist

In our lessons, David consistently demonstrated exemplary understanding of complex music theory, but was also able to impart his deep professional knowledge in a manner accessible to a neophyte such as myself. And further to his credit, he has the patience of a saint when it came to actually implementing difficult theoretical ideas.

David was exacting in his attention to the details of our practice sessions, and was also able to offer techniques to ameliorate my lack of dexterity. He noted that my physiology was likely a culprit and helped me find workable solutions to the problems.

Overall, David was dedicated, always punctual, a real pleasure to work with, and I could not recommend him highly enough to others.

David is an excellent teacher. I have worked with him for several years; he also worked with some of my own students. He is talented, reliable and very knowledgeable. He is also patient, likable and will make any student feel comfortable. I give him my highest recommendation.

Top notch

David was an excellent teacher and I was sad to learn he had to leave the East Coast where I live. I am an older student playing violin for the first time ever, and David was very patient with me from day 1. He is kind and professional and goes at an appropriate pace tailored to his student's needs. It is also nice to have someone who is still actively playing violin now and perfecting his own ability because he is able to give you pointers about what he does in his own practice to become better, and he can give you a "big picture" of what to expect after practicing for a while. He is clearly passionate about music and will introduce you to some of the great works and artists out there (past & present) that can inspire the beginner violinist.

Efficient and effective teaching

He is able to assess problems and is able to come up with solutions in a clear and practical way. He teaches in a comfortable music studio that enhances the whole experience.
