Hi my name is David, I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. I'm retired from the Army and teach high school JROTC in South Carolina.
I'm extremely enthusiastic and a dedicated teacher who believes that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to. I want to help you discover your talents by incorporating scales, sight reading and note recognition. I'll lay out a weekly practice plan for you that is tailored to your level of experience. I want to help you meet your goals.

As my students grow as musicians, it is my hope and desire that they will discover a love for music, giving them an appreciation of the arts for years to come.

I have played piano/keyboard for a number of years. Keys can add atmosphere to any genre of music. I have experience playing behind a speaker and during prayer/altar call. I currently use mainstage and Sunday keys when playing at church.
The course was designed to enhance skills in innovative teaching techniques, program administration, service learning and curriculum design.

David is a knowledgeable, prepared, timely and tech-savvy instructor. He uses a split screen on the video calls so that you can see his hand placement while conversing with him at the same time. I found this most helpful as a "true beginner" because I frequently needed to refer to his hand placement.
I was also fortunate that the time for our classes worked well for me, even though I am learning from overseas.
I look forward to continued lessons.
Personable, patient, good explanations of what he asked me to do. Readily picked up when I wasn't getting it and explained another way until I did. I am an adult learner with Parkinson's and his teaching style meshed with my limitations perfectly. I took to internet learning easily so it was a "win" for me.Show More
I have played woodwinds for years, and plucked away at piano a little here and there. So, my education is pretty much a mishmosh. David was excellent at meeting me where I am in my education and planning out how to close the gaps in what I know as I progress forward. I've only had one lesson and learned quite a lot! Very much looking forward to continuing with David.Show More
Very patient and flexible. My son is learning a lot
Best personal teacher I've had so far. I haven't had different piano teachers, but I've had plenty of other types of tutors and this one is the best personality and teaches me the quickest vs others
Went over basics I knew with the first lesson, but now that he has, the basics I knew are now better instilled. I can look at any note and within a second find out which letter and octave it corresponds to on both piano and sheet music. After that he got me to use my hands faster and more accurately by practicing scales. As if his teaching methods weren't good enough, he also has a really flexible schedule. If you are unable to make a lesson, just give a 24 hour notice and he can shift the lessons down a week. The only nuance that I've experienced is that he asks me a few times to change my schedule. I can't complain, since it was a choice though, one that he asks if its ok and then goes forth with it. Much better than tutors for academic subjects I've had, and much better than my Guitar teacher in public school. 3 years of guitar case two weeks with piano, and I feel much comfortable on piano than on guitar already!Show More
David is starting to teach my 9 year old daughter who has a learning disability. He is very kind and patient with her. His techniques of teaching a child the piano is very good. I am very pleased. We will continue to take more lessons and I can not wait to see the progress.Show More
First leasone went great. Made practice fun and aslo established a set practice schedule for my son.
What a great piano teacher!!!!! He took the time to explain in detail the lesson and even when I have many questions he was more than helpful and answer all my questions. I can't wait for the next lesson!
David Wettrich has such a gift and passion when it comes to music. Not only does he work very hard to make each piece he plays the best it can be, but he has an innate sense of how to get it there. This is particularly true when it comes to playing by ear. He learns many pieces by ear and then makes them unique by how he interprets them when he plays. But the greatest thing I see about his musical skills is how he wants to be able to share the joy of music with others. And especially how he wants to play for the glory of God.Show More
