Beginner, Intermediate
Experienced teacher of 10 years, specializing in the beginner/intermediate piano student! Each student is unique; so I customize the lessons and repertoire to suit each student, utilizing method books and/or different styles of music depending on the student's interest.

I work with each student to help mold their learning experience specifically to their individual needs. We will typically start with basic music theory and then move to exploring sight-reading, but am willing to adapt to what each student is wanting and needing.

I will provide written individual feedback after the lesson to help remind the student of what we are working on. I hope to have the chance to share my love of music with you!

I incorporate fun rhythm patterns to help with learning your scales. You'll also learn chords, arpeggios, sight-reading, improvisation, ear training, and basic music theory.

When you practice, you hear and feel the difference. If you don't practice, you'll remain in the same place, and it's frustrating for everyone.

About David W.

I am very passionate about teaching piano. Each lesson is tailored to the individual student based on his/her age, skill level, and musical interests.

I focus on music theory, pop piano, or introductory classical piano skills. If you want to learn how to play in a Contemporary church setting, I can help you as well. I have a Bachelors degree in Music with Lee University from Cleveland, Tennessee.

I am always studying new methods and doing research to broaden my experience and toolbox to share with you in your journey.

I incorporate sight-reading, ear training, and playing by chords. I tailor my lessons to meet your needs. I use an online program called Musico at no extra cost. It is an interactive program that keeps you engaged in-between lessons.

You are also able to play along with great-sounding tracks, add your own parts, get creative, and learn faster.

My students are able to store all their assignments in one location and be able to keep track of how much they practice each week.

Parents can see what their child is working on and watch their love for music come alive with creativity.

Music Books:
For my younger students I start with Accelerated Piano Adventures Book Level 1 by Faber. It covers fundamental rhythms, all the notes of the grand staff, C position and G position.

For adults I start with Adult Piano Adventures All-in-One Piano Course Book Level 1 by Faber. This book includes technique, theory, the fundamentals of music notation, chord playing, and musical form.

I have a Yamaha DGX-520 88-Key Portable Grand Piano Keyboard. An internal webcam on my laptop as well as an external Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920, for multiple views.

David has been a great teacher! We have had multiple sessions now, and my son (age 9) is really enjoying learning piano. This was his first time learning, so we were nervous if he will enjoy learning piano, but David did an excellent job in guiding him through it. He is building up the level every week. We get notes & homework that he can follow through and practice during the week. He is always on time, keeps the session engaged. Highly recommend him!

Good first lesson, moved at my pace, given challenging assignment for next meeting. This session was well planned and methodical. Looking forward to next week.

Great session. very first piano lesson of my life. VERY comprehensive, so I'm not just learning to smash keys, I'm also learning WHY I'm smashing those keys.

I found David to be a patient and knowledgeable piano instructor. As an adult learner I needed someone who understood my specific learning needs and learning style. I was relatively new to online classes but David is quite good at it and I felt quite comfortable

David is a knowledgeable, prepared, timely and tech-savvy instructor. He uses a split screen on the video calls so that you can see his hand placement while conversing with him at the same time. I found this most helpful as a "true beginner" because I frequently needed to refer to his hand placement.

I was also fortunate that the time for our classes worked well for me, even though I am learning from overseas.

I look forward to continued lessons.

Personable, patient, good explanations of what he asked me to do. Readily picked up when I wasn't getting it and explained another way until I did. I am an adult learner with Parkinson's and his teaching style meshed with my limitations perfectly. I took to internet learning easily so it was a "win" for me.

I have played woodwinds for years, and plucked away at piano a little here and there. So, my education is pretty much a mishmosh. David was excellent at meeting me where I am in my education and planning out how to close the gaps in what I know as I progress forward. I've only had one lesson and learned quite a lot! Very much looking forward to continuing with David.

Best personal teacher I've had so far. I haven't had different piano teachers, but I've had plenty of other types of tutors and this one is the best personality and teaches me the quickest vs others

Went over basics I knew with the first lesson, but now that he has, the basics I knew are now better instilled. I can look at any note and within a second find out which letter and octave it corresponds to on both piano and sheet music. After that he got me to use my hands faster and more accurately by practicing scales. As if his teaching methods weren't good enough, he also has a really flexible schedule. If you are unable to make a lesson, just give a 24 hour notice and he can shift the lessons down a week. The only nuance that I've experienced is that he asks me a few times to change my schedule. I can't complain, since it was a choice though, one that he asks if its ok and then goes forth with it. Much better than tutors for academic subjects I've had, and much better than my Guitar teacher in public school. 3 years of guitar case two weeks with piano, and I feel much comfortable on piano than on guitar already!

David is starting to teach my 9 year old daughter who has a learning disability. He is very kind and patient with her. His techniques of teaching a child the piano is very good. I am very pleased. We will continue to take more lessons and I can not wait to see the progress.

David Wettrich has such a gift and passion when it comes to music. Not only does he work very hard to make each piece he plays the best it can be, but he has an innate sense of how to get it there. This is particularly true when it comes to playing by ear. He learns many pieces by ear and then makes them unique by how he interprets them when he plays. But the greatest thing I see about his musical skills is how he wants to be able to share the joy of music with others. And especially how he wants to play for the glory of God.
