I am a 28 year old multi instrumentalist and music educator based in Providence, RI with five years of teaching experience privately and in public schools. I have taught guitar, bass, piano, drum set, percussion, trumpet, trombone, flute, clarinet, and saxophone to students aged 8-80. I also specialize in composition, music theory, and music production. I believe my job as an educator is to meet my students at their current level of ability and interest and work from there to meet and exceed the student's desire for progress. I am patient and teach by guiding my students with inspirational but attainable goals suited to their interests and aspirations. I'm very kind and non-threatening and enthusiastic about teaching students of all ages and abilities.
I teach private lessons to students aged 14-19 at a private boarding school in Naragansett, RI. I also work with them on songwriting, production, music theory, and ensemble playing.
I worked for four years teaching music at Hopkins Academy and Hadley Elementary School. I did small group instrumental lessons for grades 3-6, an Elementary Band ensemble, as well as Middle School and High School Band and Chorus. I also led the Jazz Band, Marching Band, and supervised the Pep Band, as well as teaching Music Theory and Music Production classes.
I taught Middle School (grades 5-7) small group lessons as well as conducted two band ensembles and a jazz band.
I worked for two summers at this amazing arts camp, teaching very open ended and creative classes alongside focused, concept driven large scale collaborative projects with campers aged 11-16. This experience left me with a very open minded and collaborative approach to education that greatly informs my work.
