My name is David, and I am a NYC based performer, producer, and educator. I have been teaching in the area ever since I left high school to students both young and old. I have a great deal of experience, and offer a focused, yet light and enjoyable lesson that allows for individual input and unique experiences.
I enjoy making sure that while my students are learning the fundamentals of their instrument, they are also learning about the ideas of music theory, ear training, and music appreciation. I feel that these concepts are just as important as learning where to put your fingers, and I think that this approach creates a well rounded player that understands the real depth and amazing potential of music as an art.
I currently teach private lessons in Saxophone, Flute, Guitar, and Piano at a Queens based private lesson studio.
My students have been accepted into NYC Arts High Schools and have received perfect marks an NYSSMA exams.
Start Talent is a dance band agency, Star Talent has put me in such locations as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Central Park Boathouse, the Westchester Country Club, and the Trump SoHo, among many others.
I have been playing in dance bands in and around the NYC area for a number of years. This type of playing brings one musicianship into focus- performances are high paced, off the cuff, and require a confident and quick musical intuition. Something different is always happening on the bandstand.
I have been teaching one on one private lessons ever since my graduation from high school. Over the years, I have developed a very personable and relaxed style that centers in on what students need to learn, and getting to it in a natural, and unforced way. This makes for lessons that are fun yet focused.
