I have 30 years of music experience. I started playing piano when I was 5 years old. I started playing bass guitar at age 10, and I started playing guitar at age 20. I started performing in public at the age of 6. By the time I was in high school, I was gigging most weekends. I also started recording when I was in high school. My musical background includes rock, jazz, classical, heavy metal, Middle-Eastern pop music, Christian contemporary, as well as some Latin music. Along with my experience playing music, I have taught students for 15 years.
I have a Master's Degree in Musicology from the University of Louisville and a Bachelor's Degree in Jazz Studies from Furman University. In my life, I have studied with some extremely accomplished musicians, including Ian Bracchitta, Matt Olson, Steve Watson and Craig Wagner. I am currently a musician at Park Place Wesleyan Church, where I play twice a week.
I can teach the fundamentals of bass playing and advanced technique, music theory, improvisation, sight reading, and music history. You will learn not only how to play the instrument proficiently, you will learn how the bass functions musically in a group as well. My lessons can be catered to fit the style of music you wish to pursue, whether it be rock, jazz, heavy metal, classical, etc.
If your goal is to be a stellar, well-rounded musician, you will be in excellent hands with me.
