- Teaches students:
- Ages 5+ and special needs
- Teaching since:
My teaching style comes from listening to the direction a student wants to take music in their life. I learn what they really want, and I follow up by creating an individualized lesson plan that involves the desires of the apprentice musician while also including the necessary skills for growing beyond any and all limitations of understanding and interfacing with the instrument.
More important than the advanced techniques I can teach in any specific genre, I can bring foundational concepts and imperative insight when listening to any song. I can teach a student how to break down musical components and hear parts, pick out the notes, and learn everything they need to bring the music they love to life. If a student doesn’t leave inspired after each lesson, then I’m failing at my only goal.
I can relate to all the problems any student is having. I’ve been there before, and can help them through each challenge they face. My students will be heard, and focus will be brought to the root cause of the problem. Then we will work together to form solutions.
Through my teaching, students can see how easy it is to practice the things they want to play so that they come out sounding how they really should. It will suddenly become easy to fill the gaps in every half-right tab.
My students will find elements of the bigger picture coming together in ways that may be unexpected. If music is constantly expanding our own limitations, then there will always be more we can achieve with it. The path from listener to musician to artist becomes walk-able.
I performed on a number of studio recordings for bands of many genres.
I worked with Ohm Towne Heroes, Electric Jug Band and Drewphoria & Friends.
I offered a wide array of guitar styles to students of all ages through this music school with a
specialization in Jazz until it's close in 2014.
